University and hospital development programs raise large amounts of money because they have been successful in implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes a vibrant annual giving program as well as a strong major giving program that includes outright and planned gifts.
This presentation will discuss the steps you can take to implement a major giving program at your organization.
Topics will include getting started, funding the program, benchmarks for success and evaluation of the program.

More Information on the Speaker:
Matthew P. Hughes has served as the Vice President of Development and Marketing of the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati (ULGC) since October 2012. He has more than 22 years of nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience. Matt earned his Bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and a Master’s of Public Administration from Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU) Heinz School of Public Policy and Management. Prior to joining the ULGC, Matt lived in Pittsburgh and worked in a variety of fundraising and administrative roles at CMU, St. Margaret Foundation, IUP, the Pittsburgh Public Theater and Ketchum, Inc.
Matt has previously spoken on a variety of topics of fundraising including major and planned giving, developing a comprehensive fundraising program and donor stewardship.
Matt is a Board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) where he serves as co-chair of the education committee. He serves as a member of IUP’s Journalism Advisory Board, and in Mason, he is a member of Grace Chapel. Matt has three children, Kailey, Zachary and Lexie.
